Ingredients

  • 1 pound strawberries
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate (baking bars or melts)
  • 4 ounces white chocolate (baking bars or melts)

Instructions

  • Wash the strawberries and dry in a kitchen towel until completely dry.
  • Melt the milk chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl on 50% power in 30 second increments, stirring between each, for about a 2-3 minutes until completely melted.
  • Prepare a baking dish with parchment paper lining.
  • Hold the strawberries by the stem and dip them into the melted chocolate. Place on prepared pan and allow to set (at room temperature or in the fridge) before decorating.
  • Melt white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl on 50% power in 30 second increments, stirring between each. Place in a piping bag or sandwich bag and cut off a tiny tip. Decorate with white chocolate and draw on the football laces by piping the center line and then small lines across.
  • Refrigerate set. Store in refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

Notes

    • Make sure your strawberries are full dry for the chocolate to stick the best. Any water left on the berries will seize the chocolate.
    • You want to melt your chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. You can use a glass bowl, but I like using paper bowl for easy cleanup. You can also use a microwave safe coffee mug.
    • If you prefer, you can melt the chocolate in a double boiler on the stovetop over medium heat.
    • If your chocolate has trouble melting, add a few drops of canola oil or vegetable oil to help it along.
    • Easily make baseballs (with white and red candy melts) or basketballs (with orange and black melts) in the same manner.
The number of servings depends on how many strawberries are in the pound you purchase.
