Happy Friday! It feels weird being Friday night, doesn’t it? Please still read this post even though it isn’t here on Friday bright and early, mmkay?
1. This week was week one of the two weeks of pie. I’ve had SO much fun making pies. Have you had fun looking at them? Yes? Good, because we have a whole other week to go!
Here are the pies I brought you this week:
Snickers Peanut Butter Brownie Pie {Rich, indulgent, and GOOD.}
Coconut French Silk Pie {The crust is like crack.}
Cherry Ice Cream Pie {Ice cream is perfect for Thanksgiving, BTW.}
and, mini pies! Turtle Brownie Pies, to be exact.
I also added a fourth post into my week. Thanks for reading!!
2. This week, all the classes at Jordan’s school performed a dance show. Jordan had a solo! I was so proud of her. I mean, I’m her mom. I’m always proud…but this was an especially proud moment. And she was a smashing success, of course. 😉
I went prepared for the show.
3. I am bringing some dessert to Thanksgiving this year. Problem is…Thanksgiving in blogland will be over by then. Think I can convince my family that chocolate and peppermint and gingerbread are the “new” Thanksgiving flavors?
4. I’ve been kind of in a funk this week. There’s lots going on, and honestly, the post-election Facebook hate that went around Tuesday night didn’t help. I try not to talk politics or religion on this blog, because, well, that’s not what it’s about. But I also feel a little like a hypocrite because I am so open about my life…and I’ve felt like I have to keep this one pent up. I was just so saddened and hurt by all the mean comments on social media after the election was called. I was called stupid and ignorant multiple times by “friends” on Facebook, just because of who I voted for. I know I’m too sensitive; that those people didn’t think, “hey, let’s call Dorothy stupid!” but you know, they kinda did. Ashton said it beautifully in her post the other day and I fear I can’t be as eloquent as her, but I’ll try. We’re all Americans – this country was built on the foundation that everyone has the freedom to be a part of the democratic process. It was also built on the freedom of the first amendment, however I think that sometimes people forget that social media is a public platform and that every single thought that goes through their head probably should not be posted for the world to read. (In fact, if blogging has taught me one thing it’s to filter. Say what you think, but filter out the bad stuff first.) Anyway, let’s play nice, mmkay? Nothing will change, this country will not improve if there is hate – if we work together we can promote change, regardless of who is in office.
And that’s all I’m going to say about that. 🙂 Thanks for not leaving mean comments. I know you won’t, because you’re all fabulous.
5. Something else that bummed me out this week? The time change. I love turning the clocks back, I just don’t like the after-effects. (Hello, Arizona. Not doing the time change one of the things I miss about living in you.) Because now, every single day for the next 6 months, this is the face I will see at 4pm:
I’m not kidding. Every. Single. Day.
6. Thank you to those of you who visited Jordan’s blog. She gets SO excited when she sees new comments. She’s having so much fun! Her blog called Let’s Do This Kids! if you’re interested in visiting… 🙂
7. Tomorrow Jordan and I and some of our friends are hosting a bake sale benefitting the American Red Cross. All proceeds will go towards helping Hurricane Sandy Victims. We have lots of goodies to sell, and will be out rain or shine! If you live in the Rocklin/Roseville area and want to come by, drop me an email (crazyforcrustblog@gmail.com) and I’ll let you know all the details.
Have a great weekend everyone! I hope you enjoyed week one of the two weeks of pie. I’ve got more coming next week! 🙂
kisses, Dorothy
I always love reading your Friday posts and getting a glimpse into your life. I can relate on your election thougts! I actually wrote a post about it and then deleted it for fear of the mean comments! I will try to stop by the bake sale if soccer games don’t get in the way 🙂 Have a great weekend!
I hear ya on the election stuff and the time change. But don’t let these “friends” of yours get you down… whoever you voted for, well, about half the country agrees with you (obviously not EXACTLY half, but you get what I am saying). And you know what else? The world would be a boring place if we didn’t all have varying opinions… 🙂
Great pix of great pies! Keep them coming. And, no, I don’t think anyone will mind having gingerbread or peppermint at Thanksgiving. Chocolate is good anytime!!!
Love, Mom
Seriously, every pie post you did I was like, holy cow. Best.Pie,Ever. And then you’d post a new one and I said the same thing. I deem you the pie queen. Please feel free to send snickers and turtle brownie pies 😉
Jordan is so cute! A girl of many talents…me and Bella love reading her blog together!
I don’t talk politics. It’s too dangerous. Especially when people I know are pretty heated about the whole thing and I don’t necessarily agree. I am smart and keep my mouth shut 😉
Happy weekend!!
I’m so proud of Jordan too! Her solo was awesome and she looked great! Your pies also looked great this week–hello, scrumptious. And will you come to the jewelry party tomorrow? I’ll try and stop by the bake sale!!
