Slutty Brownies are the most decadent and outrageous bar cookie you’ll ever try: chocolate chip cookies on the bottom, brownies on the top, and Oreos in the center. Normally this recipe is made with pre-packaged dough and box mixes but my recipe is completely from scratch. Almost every blogger has made some version of this recipe but if you’re looking for the BEST Slutty Brownie recipe, this is it!
Why I Love This Recipe
Okay let’s just put it out there that I’m not in love with the name of these brownies. It’s a little awkward to call them slutty when really, they’re just outrageous and amazing. (Slutty isn’t really a word I like to use, anyway.)
However, people DO search for them and since I’ve been making them for years I figured I needed to finally post the recipe. I couldn’t call them Brookies (although basically, that’s what they are) because I already have a recipe for those.
Let’s just agree the name isn’t great but the bars ARE. From scratch chocolate chip cookies on the bottom, Oreos in the center, and homemade brownies on top – these are EPIC!
Ingredients Needed
- Butter: I always use unsalted butter, but salted may be substituted by reducing added salt. I use melted butter in both layers.
- Sugars: You need both granulated sugar and brown sugar.
- Baking Chocolate: For the brownies you’ll need unsweetened baking chocolate, which is found in the baking aisle.
- Cocoa: I use regular unsweetened cocoa powder, but dutch process may also be used.
- Oreos: You’ll need about 24 Oreos or similar sandwich cookie for that layer.
Variations
- Want a semi-homemade version? No problem. Use a large roll of cookie dough (32 ounce size) in place of the chocolate chip cookie recipe and/or a box of brownie mix (make according to box directions) for the brownies.
- You can make this with ANY kind of cookie dough from the store – any flavor. Or use my double chocolate chip cookie recipe or even peanut butter cookies.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Melt butter and stir in both sugars in a large bowl. You don’t need to use an electric mixer, but you can. Stir in egg, baking soda, salt, and vanilla extract.
2. Stir in flour then stir in chocolate chips. At this point, you’ll press the dough into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
3. Melt baking chocolate and butter until smooth. Make sure to use a large bowl that is microwave safe, and stir every 30 seconds while melting.
4. Stir in the sugar, cocoa, salt, and eggs until smooth. No mixer needed unless you want to use one! Then stir in the flour.
5. Layer the Oreos evenly over the cookie dough in the pan.
6. Carefully spread the brownie batter over the top of the Oreos. Then bake until the brownies are no longer glossy on top.
Expert Tips
- You’re going to want a 9×13-inch pan for this recipe.
- You can also make these in muffin tins if you want Oreo Cookie Brownie Cupcakes!
- I like to cover the pan with foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray to make removal and slicing easier.
- These take quite a long time to bake because they’re so thick. You know brownies are done when the top is solid and no longer wet looking. The toothpick test can be done 2 inches from the edge, but it’s best to use your eyes for this.
- Cool completely before slicing.
- Store in an airtight container on the counter, or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Learn how I freeze all my desserts!
FAQs
This recipe originated with a blogger who called them something different, then another blogger made them and re-named them for shock value – and they went viral. Let’s make Chocolate Chip Cookie Oreo Brownies trend so we can skip the bad name of them!
Freeze these in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
Feel free to swap out refrigerated cookie dough (one log) and/or one box brownie mix (plus the ingredients to make the brownies). But I love this from scratch version best!

These did not turn out, I wish I had read the comments before wasting money and my time. The brownie batter never set and was still molten like others said. It was too much batter for the size baking dish.
Did you use a glass or a metal pan?
Metal, I left it in for about an hour and the inside was barely baked and the top was totally separated and broke apart when cutting. I think if there was less batter it would cook better. Cookie to brownie ratio is off. Didnโt look pretty lol
Awesome recipe, I followed this to a T and it came out delicious. I baked my brownies for 40 minutes, next time I will only bake for 35. Thank you!
Made this with my 14 year old. Used the converted measurements from grams and it didnโt cook at all. Total molten. Wasted most of my baking ingredients as it had to be thrown away! Please recheck your conversions, especially for the sugar.
If it was totally molten that means it wasn’t baked all the way and needed to bake longer. The gram measurements are the exact same I use for all my recipes.
Same thing happened to me! I left it in the oven for over an hour. Outside got hard as a rock and inside was still liquid. I also used the gram measurements.
Are you using a glass or a metal pan?
I baked thรจse at 325 for 52 minutes and they were AMAZING. The best recipe ever.
I call then Naughty Brownies because I don’t like the other name either.
I made this recipe this evening and it turned out exactly as planned! I just used parchment only. I also used salted butter and doubled the salt in every case. I was baking bread at the same time, so my oven was at 425F and I kept these in for 30 minutes. I can’t wait to experiment with other cookies as the middle layer now!
So glad you liked them!
