French toast normally takes a lot of time to make. Stand at the stove. Dip. Cook. Flip. Repeat.

When you make an Overnight Apple Pie French Toast Casserole it’s way easier. Dump. Bake. Eat!

The other day Mel told me the voice on his phone was now a man. He hadn’t done anything to the phone; she just all of a sudden changed to a he.

We were talking about this when Jordan walked into the room and she’s all, “Oh, I did that.”

To which we were all, “Huh? Siri can change to a man?!”

And she replied, “Yeah, the other day I was playing with her on Daddy’s phone. I told her she was stupid so she took me to the settings where I could change her to a man.”

There are so many things wrong with this situation I cannot even start.

Now, in Jordan’s defense, I probably don’t say the nicest things about my Siri. I’ve called her a witch on many occasions.

I’ll be driving and ask where the Roller King is and she’ll tell me where Rolling Hills is. Not helpful.

I’ll be driving and ask here where the nearest gas station is and she’ll tell me I’m out of luck. I start to sweat and 30 seconds later drive by a Chevron. Seriously?

And the worst offense: I’ll set her up on directions to someplace I’ve never been. She’ll get me from my house to the freeway and then…stop talking. Because obviously that’s helpful, right? #NO

But, in her defense, if you ask her a Knock Knock joke or “What does the fox say” she’s pretty darn hilarious.

Funny, I just asked her what French Toast was and she took me to wikipedia. Does she know nothing about me?

Crazy for Crust, Siri. Google it.

Overnight Apple Pie French Toast Casserole Recipe

I thought I was being all original when I created this overnight french toast recipe. I mean, overnight bluberry french toast went around the blogosphere last month. And I’ve made a banana version. But apple pie? Surely I’m a genius.

I’m not. Lisa thought of it first. <–why I don’t google

I’ve been dreaming about this recipe for awhile now. Craving it, actually. Because I knew that I was going to make a french toast base and top it with apples and then put crumble on top.

Because everything should be topped with crumble.

This Apple Pie French Toast Casserole is so good. It’s like dessert that you can eat for breakfast. The french toast part is like the crust, topped with apples and crumble…just like pie.

For breakfast.

#YoureWelcome

A few notes about this easy recipe:

  • I used a stale-ish loaf of sliced french bread. I always buy those already-sliced boules and then eat one slice and it goes stale. So I sliced the rest of the 1lb loaf up for the base of the french toast.
  • You pour the egg mixture over the bread and then let it sit overnight. I literally did the bread and egg mixture in 5 minutes before I went to bed. You can do it earlier in the day…I just forgot until 8pm.
  • I used an apple pie filling for my apples. It was easier and I had pie filling on hand. You can also cook the apples like you would for this recipe and use them instead.
  • The crumble is my favorite crumble topping. Brown sugar, butter, oats, and flour. Just four ingredients get mixed in a mixer until they are crumbly. Top the french toast and bake and you have pie.

For breakfast.

With syrup.

Overnight Apple Pie French Toast Casserole - like a pie for breakfast! A great brunch recipe that's easy and delicious.

Take that Siri!

  1. don’t even get me started on siri – I do not enjoy her at all – but Ian and the kids think she’s super fun to play with
now if only I could get siri to email this recipe to my kids so that they would know what I want to eat on Mother’s day, that would be fun

  2. Oh, my word…that is why I just can’t use Siri. ย She is not helpful to me at all. ย And she types all my words and messages wrong. ย My kids think it is hilarious to change her to different people and accents. ย They got my husband pretty good one time…he loves Siri and uses her to do all his messages and directions. ย I did have to go ask her what the fox said though because now I was all curious, but apparently my Siri says the fox is a mystery. ย Seriously who comes up with these? ย Ok, apple pie french toast…holy yum! ย That crumble is to die for. ย And if I had a $1 for every time someone else already made something I thought I was inventing, I could retire ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. I’m so glad my daughter isn’t the only one that’s mean to Siri! She does it for fun and I often hear Siri saying, “that’s not nice.” My Siri is a very kind British gentleman.
p.s. Thanks for letting me have apple pie for breakfast! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Love this overnight french toast! ย Apple pie for breakfast sounds incredible! It looks mouthwatering! I’m dying over that glorious crumble topping!
