Lucky Charm Marshmallow Treats (AKA cereal bars) are some of my favorites to make because I’m obsessed with the cereal. A box of Lucky Charms hates to see me coming. Rice Krispie Treats are a classic, but they can be made with just about any cereal, like my favorite marshmallow filled one!

These treats are perfect for kids and adults for any time of the year, but especially during the St. Patties Day season! They’re easy to make, no bake, with a gooey crunchy texture – you’re going to love them!

Ingredient Notes

  • Marshmallows: You can use mini marshmallows (a 10 oz bag) or regular size (a 12 ounce bag).
  • Lucky Charms Cereal: Those lucky charms marshmallows get me every time.
  • Vanilla: I love using pure vanilla extract
  • Butter: You can use unsalted or salted butter. It’s helpful if it’s room temperature, but not required.

How to make Lucky Charm Rice Crispy Treats

  1. I like to cook my melted butter and marshmallows in a large pot over medium-low heat, stirring until they’re melted. You can also do this in the microwave but be sure to stir every 30 seconds or so.
  2. Measure out your cereal before you start so it’s ready to add to the hot marshmallow mixture. Also be sure to grease your baking dish (or line with foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray).
  3. Press the lucky charms treats into the prepared pan and allow to cool. I like to press them down with a spatula.

Storing Cereal Treats

Store these in an airtight container for several days at room temperature. You can freeze them between sheets of wax paper or parchment paper so they don’t stick together.

Expert Tips

  • You can use mini marshmallows if that is what you have on hand. Check out the recipe notes to see how much you will need.
  • Spray wax paper or parchment paper with nonstick cooking spray so you can press without it sticking to your hands.

  1. I really like these even better than crispy cereal. But…I’ve loved Lucky Charms all of my life well since I was 4 when they came out. And at 64 I still have them in my pantry. Was trying them out for a treat for my young nephews, wink, wink but not sure they’ll make it out my front door😊

  2. I made this today using 3 bags of leftover marshmallows! I used the lowest heat and found I needed to keep stirring melted butter and marshmallows so it did not burn on the bottom. Adding the cereal I had to work quickly so it didn’t firm up in the pan before I could get them into the 9 x 13 pan. I sprayed the wax paper and my palm so it made it easier to press into place in the pan.
They look delicious and I will definitely make them again. My grandkids will love them and they will easily fit into a lunch bag for school or for an anytime snack! And the best part about this recipe, I had all the ingredients on hand! Thank you for providing this recipe today in my email! Dorothy, you are the best!
