Happy Saturday! Remember how I wrote a cookbook? Well, I decided to throw myself a party earlier this month and I’m finally posting about it!
{BTW, throwing yourself a party after you’re a teenager is…weird. It felt very “look at me” and I’m so not that person.}
Note: all photos not with my watermark were taken by Kirkpatrick Photography.
The star of the party were the desserts, obviously. I made 6 from the book: Lemon Bar Cheesecake, Chocolate Chip Toffee Bark (that inspired this recipe since Mel didn’t get any), Chocolate Cheesecake Sandwich Cookies, Truffle Brownies, Cake Batter Blondies, and Apple Pie Cookies.
I made double batches of everything…and hardly anything was left!
It was strange to see my book…everywhere. I can’t believe I actually wrote (and photographed) a book. Pinch me.
The only two people at the party more excited than me were Mel and Jordan. Jordan even picked out a new dress (color appropriate, of course).
I designed and decorated the whole party by myself. The banners and most of the party decorations came from Minted.com. You can make personalize banners on their site, including ones with photos. I used the “Vintage Milk” party theme to make the banner (above) and the closure stickers (below).
The favor bags were also from Minted.com. They held my thank you card as well as two chocolate chip cookies for “s’more dessert” later. (Recipe in the book!)
When my editor told me that blue and teal would be the book colors I was beyond ecstatic. If you could see my house, you’d know I didn’t need to buy much decor for the party. I live for the red/teal combination.
My sister-in-law is a local florist (Ambience Floral Design) and she provided all the gorgeous flowers for the party. (The water container is from World Market, isn’t it fabulous?)
The Sips and Snacks signs were also from Minted.com, their “Birthday Plane” party theme.
I went light on the appetizers for the party (thank you so much to my mom for making them!) and they were all gone. I didn’t even get to try the hummus or the salami skewers!
The party enjoyed wine from Mirassou. Have you ever had their wine? It’s really, really good and they sell it at some grocery stores and wine stores. The chardonnay is my favorite but I even love the moscato, and I’m not a sweet wine drinker, so that’s saying a lot!
She was so excited for the whole party. Some day, I bet I’ll be the one at her book party (or Oscar party…).
I’m sorry, but signing books? SO WEIRD.
I was so excited so many of my local blogger friends could come to the party. If you’re not reading these ladies, you’re missing out!

Bottom (left to right): Amy from Very Culinary and Karen from The Food Charlatan
And on the left? That’s my BFF Hayley from The Domestic Rebel and my girls Trish from Mom on Timeout and Ashley from Domestic Fashionista on the right.
I love all you ladies! Thank you for celebrating my day with me!
My mom and dad. <3
Some of my girls, being silly. 🙂
And me, looking like a dork.
I want to thank everyone for all their help before, at, and after the party. I couldn’t have done it without any of you. 🙂
Are you interested in the book? Well, it’s on sale now!
And if you hurry, you can enter to WIN a copy from my friend Amy at Very Culinary. Enter here!
Thanks for reading!!
And wait…before you go. I have two new posts on Pillsbury.com and I’d love for you to check them out!
xo,
Dorothy
Thank you to Minted.com, Ambience Floral Design, and Mirassou for the supplies I needed to make my party a huge success!
It’s beautiful and again, congrats!! I am so excited for you! 🙂
Everything at your party was absolutely adorable! I am in love with everything!
awwwwww so sweet!!!!!! The party looks FAB (almost as amazing as the book itself!) You did an amazing job and I can’t wait to get my hands on your book!
OMG HOW FUN!!!! I cannot believe you found time to make a double batch of 6 desserts…in all your spare time, but clearly, a very!! worthwhile cause! I am so ecstatic for you that you did this (and of course wrote the book) because with both of my books now, I’ve done precisely..nothing special. I should have. Or still should! Can you be my party planner b/c everything looks PERFECT! You’re glowing, so are Jordan and Mel, gosh, so many shiny happy people…love it 🙂
You totally should throw a party!!! You deserve it. And you should invite me. 😉
Well done!!! You and your family must be so proud of you and your amazing effort to write a amazing cookbook AND your excellent blog at the same time! Your book is definitely going to be No.1 on everyone’s Thanksgiving or Christmas lists, no doubt! Well done again and loving the pictures! 😀 x
Thank you so much Eve!!
