What is a Cinnamon Roll Sausage Roll?
It’s a bite size cinnamon roll that’s wrapped around your favorite sausage. These homemade sausage cinnamon rolls are super easy to make and can be on your table in less than 30 minutes.
Why you’ll love this recipe
- Just wrap, bake and eat for a total of 30 minutes.
- The ultimate on-the-go breakfast since these rolls can be enjoyed at room temperature. They’re a road trip favorite!
- They are freezer friendly! Make this sausage roll recipe in bulk and freeze it for easy defrosting when needed!
Ingredients Needed
- Cinnamon Rolls: Pillsbury or similar Cinnamon Rolls, not the grands cinnamon roll dough
- Breakfast sausage: I like to use Jimmy Dean or Jennie-O turkey sausage, the kind that’s already cooked and just needs to be reheated.
How to make Sausage Rolls
- If your sausage is raw, then cook it according to package directions. Drain and cool completely.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Remove cinnamon rolls from the package. Using a small but sharp knife, cut around the spiral so that you can unroll the cinnamon roll. Unroll it flat and wrap it around your pork sausage.
- Repeat for remaining rolls.
- Bake 10-13 minutes until the cinnamon roll is golden brown. Cool slightly before eating. These are good plain, but they’re also good dipped in the icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls.
- Store in an airtight container or ziploc bag in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. You can also freeze these rolls for quick morning breakfasts. They’re great for road trips because they can be eaten at room temperature.
Expert Tips
- Like I mentioned before, you can freeze the cooked and cooled rolls. Reheat by wrapping in a paper towel and microwaving for 30-40 seconds or you can pop one in a lunch box and it’ll be defrosted by noon.
- Use any flavor breakast sausage you like – we love using pre-cooked sausage to make it even easier!
- You can use crescent rolls for these too like a more traditional pigs in a blanket.

I remember you Instagraming pictures of your crescent roll sausages from your trip to Disneyland last year! (At least, I’m assuming that’s what it was…) Love this cinnamon roll version even more! I’m seriously addicted to cinnamon rolls and can’t buy the tubes because I will eat every single one by myself in less than 2 days. (Yes, it’s true: breakfast, lunch & dessert. And maybe a snack too.) Have fun on your next trip! Where are you headed? And those utility totes are way too cute; I’d definitely use it to transport desserts (cheesecakes come to mind) when I visit my parents!
We go to the beach every July, and with 3 kids, this tote would be great!
I would use it to bring groceries home and to take food to people.
We have similar tastes in breakfast – love cinnamon rolls and sausage! AND dipped in icing, OMG. If I won the Thirty One tote, I would give it to my daughter for her dorm room this fall. My youngest is leaving the nest – aaahhhh. Have a wonderful road trip.
My thermal and re-usable grocery bags are always sliding around the back of my SUV. I’d love to have one of these totes to contain all my flotsam.
