It’s time for Christmas! Peppermint, eggnog, gingerbread, ornaments, and shopping! Yay!
Well, sort of, right. There’s that pesky little holiday…what’s it called? It’s this week…Black Friday? No…that’s not it…Thanksgiving! Right! Don’t want to forget about that one.
Does anyone else feel like Thanksgiving is now the forgotten step-child of the Fall? Halloween shows up in July, followed closely by Christmas. They’ve been playing Christmas music since the day after Halloween. And, if you happen to be looking for last minute Thanksgiving decorations this weekend, you’ll be hard pressed to find them.
Us bloggers don’t help matters much, do we? Pumpkin starts in August and by Turkey Day there have already been weeks of eggnog and peppermint. I actually feel behind! With the two weeks of pie I haven’t gotten to post any of the awesome Christmas things I’ve made.
And yes, I’ve been making. Up a storm, people! Up. A. Storm.
I really hope that my Aunt and Uncle and extended family like eating Christmas dessert for Thanksgiving. All in the name of the editorial calendar. 😉
So…let’s get started with probably my favorite Christmas dessert yet!
CANDY CANE OREOS.
Is there anything better? I think NOT.
{Except, maybe, Peppermint Jo-Jo’s, Andes chips, Gingerbread Oreos and every single holiday flavor of Hershey’s Kiss.}
But, I can’t just eat the awesome Candy Cane Oreos. Nope. I have to turn them into something. It’s a rule!
I was going to make a crust out of them, and top it with a cheesecake concoction. But then I was inspired by my friend Jocelyn, who stuffs Oreos into brownies like it’s nobody’s business.
And, honestly, after 2 weeks of making crust I want nothing to do with my food processor for, like, at least another week.
I made these for the Bake Sale we did a few weekends ago. Turns out that people don’t think it’s normal to stuff Oreos in brownies and cover them with cheesecake. I got lots of blank stares and exclaimed faces.
Who knew?
{Seriously, these aren’t even that crazy for me, right? I wonder what they’d think of these. Or these.}
But, crazy or not, these are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. With a capital awesome.
Seriously. Make them. Consider them fuel for Black Friday.
You’re welcome. 😉
Candy Cane Oreo Cheesecake Brownies
Ingredients
- 1 box brownie mix , plus eggs, water, and oil called for on the box
- 20 Candy Cane Oreos , about 1 package
- 1 egg
- 8 ounces cream cheese , softened
- 1/4 cup sour cream , room temp
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup Andes Baking Chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9x13 pan with foil and spray with cooking spray.
- Make brownie mix according to package directions. Pour half of the batter into the bottom of the pan and spread to coat. Line the brownie mix with the Oreos and then top them with the remaining brownie mix.
- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sour cream until combined and no lumps remain (your ingredients need to be at least room temperature for this!). Beat in egg and sugar. Pour over brownie mix and spread to the edges of the pan. Sprinkle Andes chips on top of the cheesecake layer.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes. Cool completely before cutting. Store in refrigerator.
