First things first, in case you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about! If you visit Hollywood Studios or California Adventure Park, you will find this cookie inspired by Jack Jack from The Incredibles. They’re basically giant chocolate cookies with chocolate chunks that are served warm.

They are AMAZING, and the great news is that you can easily make Disney copycat num nums at home. Although, if you happen to visit Disney, definitely treat yourself to the original! It’s one of my favorite Disney treats.

  • Cubed Cold Butter: That’s right – these start with COLD unsalted butter!
  • Sugar: Use both brown sugar and granulated sugar
  • Eggs: Always buy large eggs, no need for them to be room temperature.
  • Vanilla extract: Aways buy pure vanilla!
  • All-purpose flour: Be sure to measure it correctly
  • Cornstarch: Adds both softness and chewiness to cookies.
  • Baking powder: Makes these a bit softer in the center.
  • Salt: Needed since we start with unsalted butter
  • Chocolate: Use BOTH Mini chocolate chips AND chocolate chunks!

How to Make Copycat Disney Cookies

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and place nine 4” shallow paper baking cups on a large baking sheet.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer (or with a hand mixer), cream the butter and sugar for two to three minutes or until the mixture is fluffy. Mix in the eggs and vanilla.
  • Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and cornstarch and mix at low speed until the flour is absorbed. Add the mini chocolate chips and half of the chocolate chunks and mix until they are evenly distributed in the dough.
  • Scoop ½ cup of cookie dough into each baking cup.
  • Once the dough is in the cups, gently press it into an even layer.
  • Press the remaining chocolate chunks on top of the dough in each baking cup.
  • Bake the cookies for 20 to 30 minutes or until they’re lightly golden brown on top. Allow them to cool for a few minutes before eating.

Expert Tips

  • For the best copycat num nums, use the paper liners. You can buy them on Amazon or at kitchen/discount stores (like Ross).
  • If you can’t find them, you can also bake the cookies in a muffin pan. Line it with muffin liners and fill each with two to three scoops of dough. It should get about 18 to 24 cookies.
  • Use a ¼ cup cookie scoop to make measuring the dough easy. Each liner should have two scoops totaling ½ cup of dough for a giant num num cookie!
  • Don’t mix all of the chocolate chunks into the dough – save half of them to press onto the tops of the cookies, so they look and taste like the originals.
  • For the best soft texture, don’t overbake the cookies.
  • Put your spin on them and mix in some chopped nuts to the dough or add some sprinkles on top.

  • 1 cup (226g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
  • 1 cup (200g) sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups (341g) all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons (24g) cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chunks divided

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Place nine 4-inch shallow paper baking cups onto large baking sheet and set aside.
  • Cream butter and both sugars in bowl of electric mixer fitted with paddle attachment until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add eggs and vanilla and mix until blended.
  • Add flour, baking powder, salt and cornstarch and mix on low speed until flour is incorporated.
  • Add mini chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of chocolate chunks and mix until chocolate is evenly distributed. Do not overmix.
  • Place 1/2 cup of dough into each of the baking cups, gently pressing dough into the bottom of each cup.
  • Evenly divide remaining chocolate chunks among cookies and press into top of cookies. Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until light golden brown on top. Cool slightly before eating.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

Feel free to use regular size chocolate chips in place of the chunks.
Don’t have the paper cups? Press 2-3 tablespoons dough into muffin pans lined with muffin cups. Makes about 18-24 standard muffin size cookies.

  1. Does the butter have to be cold or is room temperature ok too? I don’t have a stand mixer and am worried about cold butter mixing in good with just my hand mixer.
