HOW TO MAKE CRUMBLE TOPPING FOR FRUIT PIES

This is the perfect crumble for any pie recipe. You can even make it for muffins or coffee cake!

INGREDIENTS

Unsalted Butter Sugar (brown, white or combo) Flour

STEP 1: GRATE YOUR BUTTER

One of my secrets for making a crumble topping: grating the butter! This shortcut will save you so much time!

STEP 2: CHOOSE YOUR SUGAR

Your grated butter will look similar to below! Now what kind of sugar to use. That's easy - what kind of sugar do you like?

STEP 3: ADD YOUR FLOUR

By now, you should have all 3 ingredients in your mixing bowl. For this crumble, all-purpose flour is the best.

STEP 4: COMBINE

Crumble topping is delicate, so you don’t want to use a mixer. You want to make crumble topping by hand, so I like using a pastry cutter.

If you don't have a pastry cutter - you can use a fork or two knives.
